Muriel’s story

Muriel was isolated and lonely due to not having any friends or family, as they had sadly all passed away. Her health was rapidly declining and she could go weeks without human interaction.

This was until one day she was referred to Time to Talk Befriending when her life dramatically changed for the better. Muriel gained so much confidence from her two volunteer visits a week that she started to venture out and she started going to local events and made many new friends in the community, her health improved and she even become our amazing spokesperson for our events and local radio shows we were invited to, to share ours and Muriel’s story.

“I feel like I am in the world again, I am not invisible,” “I hope lots of other people get to hear about it and benefit from the service as I have” – Muriel.

Unfortunately, Muriel’s story is all too familiar. With government funding cuts, even more older people are being left in the dark, alone with no one to share their day/week with. Sadly, all their stories of their lives and our history are all being lost which is why we need your help to support our ongoing work.
