Events During Dementia Action Week

Over the past few years we've had the privilege of benefiting from professional expertise enabling us to develop our service to become more dementia inclusive. As a result, we provide regular workshops, resources, training for our staff and volunteers. However, during Dementia Action Week we would like to extend our offer of attending two special events to the whole community. Whether you are a professional, carer, volunteer or individual - all are welcome.

Use Your Marbles led by Charlotte Evans, Story Chaplain (www.storychaplain.com)

Tuesday 18th May, via Zoom, 10.30am-12midday

Is a practical, interactive workshop exploring how everyday creativity can contribute towards better brain health, right across the life course. The workshop has been designed to give opportunity to consider new ideas, share experiences and feel encouraged to try small lifestyle changes today.

Best Practice and Barriers: diversity and inclusion: led by Jazz Browne from Nubian Life (https://www.nubianlife.org.uk/) and Dr Shadreck Mwale, Senior Research Fellow at Brighton and Sussex Medical School

Wednesday 19th May, via Zoom, 10.30am-11.30am

This one hour Zoom session will be in two parts. Hosted by Time to Talk Befriending, guest speaker Jazz Brown from Nubian Life will share her insights and experiences of delivering successful community initiatives for the African Caribbean and Asian population of Hammersmith and Fulham.

We will also hear from Dr Shadreck Mwale who is developing research on diversity and inclusion in social care. Shadreck and Jazz are motivated to ensure that people from all cultures who are living with dementia have equal access to services and is keen to undertake research to explore barriers to inclusion. A conversation will be hosted to learn from participants about their experiences of working or living in the Sussex community. The outcome of these conversations will be helpful for developing appropriate research on understanding issues related to diversity and inclusion. Those in attendance who are passionate about this issue will also be invited to connect with Shadreck beyond the event.

To book your place please contact chelsey@tttb.org.uk. Bookings will be on a first come first served basis.

We hope you can join us!

Support us today

Your donations and support helps to change lives and overcome loneliness.

Could you support us financially? In doing so you will enable us to positively connect with older people who feel ‘invisible’, ‘forgotten’, and ‘alone’.

Regular monthly or one off donations make a significant difference to our Charity.

We need the generous support of our community, both big and small to improve the lives of society's most lonely, isolated and vulnerable older people.
